The narrative follows (Vidya Balan), a single mother whose husband, Hari (Rajkummar Rao), mysteriously disappeared five years into their marriage. Burdened by traditional values and the "pati parmeshwar" (husband as God) ideology, she lives a life of quiet waiting.
