★★★★☆ (4/5) – One star deducted for the lack of a sequel, though the ending clearly set one up.

Ayesha Takia plays Priya, the love interest. Her character’s major plot point is that she can "hear" the car talking to her. Without subtitles, you just see her staring at headlights. With subtitles, you realize she is reacting to the ghost’s dialogue—a crucial element that turns a romance into a supernatural love triangle between a boy, a girl, and a sedan.

When the movie first released, critics were harsh. They called the plot illogical and the premise far-fetched. Yet, the film survived purely on the strength of its entertainment value. It went on to win the National Film Award for Best Special Effects, a testament to the technical prowess of Indian cinema at the time.

Pro-tip: When downloading external subtitles, sync them correctly. The theatrical version has a different runtime than the TV broadcast version.
