At its core, Life In Santa County is a choice-driven adult visual novel set against the backdrop of a fictional, affluent coastal region in California. The player steps into the shoes of a protagonist who has just inherited a property in the county, only to discover that this inheritance comes with a tangled web of debt, family secrets, and shifting loyalties.
Previous versions focused on the heat of summer—both literal and metaphorical. Version 0.11.0 introduces the first in-game week of autumn. The change in season brings new environmental art, including falling leaves on the main boulevard and foggy mornings at the pier. Narratively, the "honeymoon phase" is over.
