FRP was introduced with Android 5.1 Lollipop. Once a Google account is added to an Android phone, FRP activates automatically. If the phone is factory reset via the settings menu, FRP usually unlocks automatically because it recognizes the legitimate user. However, if the reset is performed via recovery mode (hard reset), the phone assumes a potential thief is trying to wipe evidence.
