Set in 1970s Detroit, "Gran Torino" follows the story of Walt Kowalski (Eastwood), a gruff, tough-as-nails auto worker who is struggling to come to terms with the changing world around him. A proud owner of a 1972 Gran Torino, Walt is a complex character, filled with contradictions. On the surface, he appears to be a racist, bitter, and somewhat misogynistic man, but as the story unfolds, his vulnerability and humanity are revealed.
