In recent years, a small but vocal group of defenders has emerged. They argue that Godzilla (1998) is a perfectly fine 90s disaster film if you divorce it from the Godzilla name. It has a propulsive score by David Arnold, a fun supporting turn from Jean Reno, and a genuinely creepy Madison Square Garden nest sequence. As a schlocky, Saturday-morning creature feature, it works. As Godzilla ? It fails. What do you think
