Dororo provides the necessary foil to Hyakkimaru’s stoicism. He is loud, energetic, and street-smart. When Dororo realizes that Hyakkimaru cannot see or hear him properly, he doesn't react with fear, but with curiosity. The dynamic is established instantly: Dororo is the voice (and eyes) for the silent, tragic hero.
