Kusakabe is burning out at the hospital, unable to save a young patient. Sajou, meanwhile, is offered a prestigious touring contract that would require him to leave Japan for two years. The final chapter jumps one year ahead. Sajou has published a short story (implied to be about Hara). Hara sends a postcard from abroad with a single sentence: “Come find me when you’re ready.” Sajou smiles, closes his notebook, and begins packing. The last panel is his hand holding the ring – now on a chain around his neck – as he steps out the door.

Early in the volume, the central conflict is established: Sajou and Kusakabe are on different paths. Sajou, the studious academic, is aiming for a university path that suits his diligent nature. Kusakabe, on the other hand, is deeply entrenched in his music career with his band, stella . The band is gaining traction, but it means Kusakabe’s future is unstable and unconventional compared to Sajou’s structured roadmap.
