| Component | Function | Reset Relevance | |-----------|----------|------------------| | Waste Ink Pad | Absorbs excess ink | Must be cleaned/replaced before reset | | EEPROM (IC8) | Stores counter data | Target for software/hardware reset | | Ink Tank IC Chips | Communicate ink levels | Resets to 100% after refill | | USB Interface | Data transfer | Used for Adjustment Program |
: Select "L405" from the model list and "Particular Adjustment Mode."
The Epson L405 reset is a necessary maintenance hurdle for long-term users. While software tools can quickly clear the "service life" error, users must ensure the physical waste ink pads are also addressed to avoid hardware damage. Proper maintenance ensures the L405 continues to deliver the high-volume, low-cost printing it was designed for.
Do NOT reset. You must replace the pads first. Search YouTube for “Epson L405 pad replacement” – it’s a messy but doable DIY. Alternatively, you can drain the excess ink using a syringe and tube.
Later L405 models (L4050) have chips integrated into the tank – these cannot be hardware reset; use Adjustment Program’s “Ink Level Reset” feature if available.
Find the "Maintenance" section and select Waste ink pad counter , then click OK . Check and Initialize: Check the box next to Main Pad Counter . Click Check to see your current point usage.
