To prevent accidental resets during normal operation, Samsung designed the SHS-1321 so you cannot reset the lock while it’s powered normally.
If your lock is behaving erratically (ghost beeping, not responding to codes) but you don’t want to delete users, try a power cycle first. This is a factory reset, but it fixes 90% of glitches.
| Error Signal | Meaning | Solution | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | | Battery low | Replace batteries immediately. Reset may fail if this appears. | | 5 rapid beeps during reset | Reset button not held long enough | Repeat hardware reset. Hold button for a full 10 seconds. | | Green light, no motor sound | Deadbolt jam or misalignment | The lock thinks it’s unlocked. Manually turn the inside knob. | | Keypad lights, no beep | Frozen MCU (Microcontroller Unit) | Perform the “soft reset” (remove batteries + drain power). | | “Invalid PIN” on default 1234 | Hardware reset didn’t clear memory | Open the interior case. Look for a small “RESET” pinhole near the battery terminal. Press with a pin while inserting batteries. |
No. A factory reset does not mechanically unlock the door. You need to have the interior thumb turn or a mechanical key to unlock the door before or during the reset process. If you are locked outside with no key, a factory reset will not help.
But unlike a smartphone, resetting a door lock isn’t always as simple as pressing a single button. The SHS-1321 is a reliable push-pull model, but the reset process requires specific timing and access to the interior assembly.
: Press and hold the [REG] button for approximately 5 to 10 seconds . You will hear a specific melody—typically described as "DING DONG DING DING"—confirming the lock is ready for initialization.
Still no luck? Contact Samsung support or check the original sticker on the side of the lock’s interior body – some units have a unique default printed on a label.
