When Rockstar Games released Grand Theft Auto IV on PC in 2008, it was notoriously unoptimized. Over the years, patches were released to fix bugs, but these patches often introduced new problems. The final official patch, version 1.0.8.0, brought the game to a state that many purists and modders found problematic.
