Unlike the 3D brawlers found on the Wii and PlayStation 3, the version was designed primarily as a 2.5D side-scrolling beat-'em-up. This decision played to the strengths of the Nintendo DS, which often struggled with complex 3D camera angles but excelled at crisp, sprite-based or 3D-model side-scrollers.
Fill up the "Mega Meter" by landing consecutive hits, and you can activate "Mega Mode" (known in the show as Shogun Mode). Your Ranger dons heavy armor, quadruples their attack power, and becomes temporarily invincible. The visual transformation is impressive for the DS hardware—the sprites gain a metallic sheen that flickers as you decimate waves of enemies.
