Unlike previous yugas where Vishnu took direct avatars (Rama with a bow, Krishna with a conch), in Kali Yuga, He hides within sacred practices. Parashara says:
Maitreya, horrified, asks: “Is there no escape? Will Lord Vishnu not intervene?”
