Kirstens Viewer [exclusive] -

In photography, depth of field is the blurring of the background to focus on the subject. In the early days of Second Life , achieving this required post-processing in Photoshop. Kirstens Viewer brought this feature directly into the engine. The DoF in KView was celebrated for its bokeh effect—the aesthetic quality of the blur—which produced soft, circular highlights that mimicked high-end real-world camera lenses. This allowed users to take portraits that looked genuinely professional straight out of the client.

To understand why KView was so revered, one must understand the limitations of the Second Life viewer during the late 2000s and early 2010s. The official viewer was often criticized for looking dated, resembling a game from the early 2000s rather than a modern simulation. kirstens viewer
