The appeal of "Episode 2" lies in the tension. In Dragon Ball GT , the power scaling had become ridiculous, with Goku as a child able to destroy planets. In AF , the stakes were reset. Seeing Goten and Uub defeated effortlessly gave the fans that classic Z feeling of "the new guy is way too strong."
