Released in October 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic and the final weeks of the U.S. presidential election, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm updates Sacha Baron Cohen’s infamous Kazakh journalist for the Trump era. Unlike the 2006 original, which targeted generalized American ignorance and prejudice, Borat 2 operates as — using hidden-camera provocation to expose specific political realities: QAnon, anti-mask sentiment, abortion restrictions, and the Trump–Giuliani nexus.
