This was the era of the definition of a mixtape shifting again. It was no longer a mix of other people’s songs. Artists started recording original songs specifically for mixtapes. A mixtape was now distinguished from an "Album" by its price (free) and its aggression (less polished, more raw, more samples). MIXTAPE
