Contrary to what the name suggests, CS 1.8 is not an official Valve release. It is a fan-made "total conversion" of Counter-Strike 1.6. Developed by Goiceasoft Studios, it bridges the gap between the classic 1.6 mechanics and the more modern aesthetics of later titles like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
