Before touching any files, you must identify what is currently running on your machine. The Axpert VM III has two separate firmware components:

Updating the firmware is risky. A power loss during a flash (even a 0.5-second brownout) will render the inverter a paperweight, requiring a new control board. Do this on a stable grid or generator.

: Ensure the hex file specifically matches your inverter's power rating (e.g., 1.5kW vs 5kW). Using the wrong "major version" branch can cause permanent failure.
