Further archaeological-linguistic work is recommended.
Over 7,000 languages are spoken worldwide, yet thousands of ritual phrases remain unrecorded. During a June 2022 survey of linguistic relics in the Upper Cross River region, the author encountered the utterance “Eteima Chaobi” from a retired village diviner, Madam Ekeng Ita (age 84).
