"The Gentleman" by Native Instruments is a favorite among many producers. It is based on an upright piano rather than a grand. Upright pianos have a different character—they are often punchier, shorter in sustain, and have more attack. This makes them cut through a dense rock or pop mix much better than a dreamy grand piano.
