The Definitive Edition connects to 2K Servers. While there is no traditional "VAC" ban, using a trainer during the story mode is safe offline. However, do not go into "Boss Mode" (the arcade challenge) with a trainer active, as it uploads your impossible scores to leaderboards, potentially flagging your account.
