Social cohesion weakens when shared values or political stability begin to fragment.
Beneath our crops, a catastrophe is unfolding. It takes nature approximately 1,000 years to build just three centimeters of topsoil. Yet, according to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the world is losing it ten to forty times faster than it can be replenished. degradation
occurs via erosion (wind and water), chemical pollution (overuse of fertilizers), and physical damage (compaction from heavy machinery). As soil degrades, its organic carbon is released into the atmosphere as CO2, simultaneously weakening the land's fertility and accelerating climate change. The result is a vicious cycle: degraded soil holds less water, leading to worse droughts; it supports less microbiology, leading to crop failure.
