A hacker gained unauthorized access to a database containing user account information. The breach wasn't publicly acknowledged by WildWorks until nearly two months later, in January 2021, after a data dump appeared on a hacker forum.
The passwords were encrypted using PBKDF2 hashes. However, if a user had a weak, short, or common password, it could be decrypted by hackers. Safety Status: No credit card information was stolen in this breach. Animal Jam Data Breach Passwords
