For the uninitiated, Jenifa (played by the incomparable Funke Akindele) is the village illiterate-turned-accidental-socialite who first graced our screens in 2008’s Jenifa . She evolved through the 2011 sequel The Return of Jenifa and the long-running series Jenifa’s Diary . But MOVIE- Everybody Loves Jenifa -2024- promises something different: a mature, chaotic, and hilarious clash between old-school values and new-school "Instabaddie" culture.
The story follows Jenifa, now a successful business owner and philanthropist living in a high-end estate. Her popularity is challenged by a new neighbor, (played by Stan Nze ), whose charity work begins to overshadow hers.
Meanwhile, the old crew returns: her long-suffering best friend Adaku , her love interest (the ever-patient Don Jazzy cameo as a banker, rumored), and her rival Toyin Tomato .
While the producers have kept the full script under lock and key, the official synopsis for MOVIE- Everybody Loves Jenifa -2024- paints a picture of glorious chaos. The film picks up several years after the events of Jenifa’s Diary . Our heroine, Suliat "Jenifa" Ogunwusi, has finally achieved her dream: she is a respectable businesswoman running a chain of boutique hotels.
