The story follows (Michael Pitt), an American exchange student in Paris, who befriends a French brother and sister, Theo (Louis Garrel) and Isabelle (Eva Green). When their parents go away for a month, they invite Matthew to stay in their grand Parisian apartment. The trio retreats into an insular, dream-like world of sensual exploration, philosophical debate, and movie-themed games.
