Sam and Dean find a magical pearl that can grant one wish. Dean wishes that his family had never been touched by tragedy — specifically, that his father John Winchester had never died. The pearl brings John Winchester (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) forward in time from 2003 to the present day. John is confused but quickly learns about everything that has happened to his sons since his death (including the Apocalypse, angels, demons, etc.).
